This audiobook comprises the Becket trilogy: Warrior, Rebel and Martyr. It follows the rise of Thomas Becket in the service of the English king Henry II, from a lowly clerk to the Archbishop of Canterbury, and his eventual bloody end in Canterbury cathedral. The author follows the actual events of Becket's life very closely and depicts the idealised martyr as an ordinary man with human failings and weaknesses.
The story is full of action, intrigue and tension, and brings alive these 12th century events for the reader and listener.
