Fitness is the ability to perform a certain task. For the Royal Marines, that was the ability to carry your injured oppo (plus your and his kit) into safe ground. The ability to march 30 miles across Dartmoor. The ability to control and maneuver your own body weight up ropes, over walls, through tunnels.
