Serin, the sister of Owen Dorr who is the hero of Bard's Tale, is approaching her 18th birthday and her friends and fellow teachers decide to take her on a short holiday from the school to find her a husband.
Instead, they find a storm-lashed inn full of odd characters and a labyrinth that has dangers around every corner.
Horren, Serin's female lover, sees the love of her life slipping away from her as an unseen hand plays a deadly game with them where surviving may not be the best policy.
