Earth just found out it isn’t alone.
I’m the one who told them.
My name is Davorin Mote. Galactic Police Force. I’m in my eighth body, and in 380 first-contact missions, I’ve never doubted my orders. Until now.
Nine billion people below me. What happens to them is my decision.
The nuclear standoff I can manage. The scientist who’s wired humanity’s extinction to his own heartbeat — that too.
Then the order arrives from The Deep. Return to World One. Leave Earth where it stands. No reason given.
Creo — my ship, the only other mind aboard — can’t make sense of it either. In a thousand years together, that has never happened.
Now the two of us are wondering who’s really giving the orders from The Deep.
Neither of us knows the answer yet. But it goes back to my original life on Morne — to a question I’ve been asking since I was eight years old.
What lies beyond the Veils?
Introducing Davorin Mote. The GPF officer who uncovers the galaxy’s oldest secret — a secret the most powerful person alive will do anything to protect.
Book 1 of The Davorin Mote Chronicles.
