Riley arrives in Qingdao to pursue a Master’s degree in East Asian culture, chasing a fresh start, cultural immersion, and academic focus in a foreign city. But his life shifts when he meets Zhao Yining, his reserved and disciplined roommate. In their cramped shared apartment, where privacy is thin and silence carries weight, their daily routines begin to blur into something far more intimate. Late nights, quiet observations, and unspoken awareness turn simple proximity into a slow-building tension neither of them can ignore.
Thin Walls is a slow-burn contemporary romance set in China, blending emotional tension, cross-cultural relationships, and forced proximity into a deeply atmospheric story. Perfect for readers who love introspective character dynamics, forbidden attraction, and intimate psychological romance, this novel explores desire, vulnerability, and the subtle line between personal space and emotional connection.
