Luke Simpson was a newbie when it came to ranching, but the money he had gotten from his retirement from a major metropolitan police department and the settlement from the accident that had taken his wife away from him enabled him to buy the ranch with plenty left over to make the changes he had dreamed of. The rest of his life lay before him and he was glad that he wouldn’t have to sit around and wait to die like many of the old cops that he knew.
