After surviving a harsh brutal winter, thus leaving him an orphan, Jud Low undertakes a job as a cattle rancher and learns the tricks of the trade. After his employer/caregiver is killed over a card game, Jud Low sets off with a new friend to Texas finding that he may be forced to become a man much sooner than expected.
