The Gems are back, but their latest mission is anything but routine when a mysterious boy who claims to be a runaway from Nevada, turns out to be a state-of-the-art android designed by the US military for covert operations.
While the FBI launches a nationwide manhunt for the "dangerous drone" the Gems find out that Robert isn’t a threat. He only wants the freedom to choose his life. As they fend off a host of foreign operatives wanting to disassemble Robert and steal his special sentient code, the Gems struggle with conflicting loyalties as they make their way across the Western United States in search for a way out for Robert.
